Documents Required for Same Day Marriage Registration under Section 8 of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955

Since 21.04.2014 the executive order The Delhi (Compulsory Marriage Registration) order 2014 has been issued wherein registration of marriage became compulsory as per the Supreme Court direction. Marriage solemnized in Arya Samaj mandir or an arranged marriage will have to be registered from the SDM office within a period of 60 days.

Required Documents Under Section 8 Of The Hindu Marriage Act-1955 Are As Follows:-

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR THE SAME DAY MARRIAGE UNDER SECTION 8 OF THE HINDU MARRIAGE ACT-1955 ARE AS UNDER:-

  1. Documentary evidence of the date of birth of parties (Matriculation Certificate / Passport / Birth Certificate/ Driving License). Minimum age of both parties is 21 years for male and 18 years for female, at the time of Solemnization of Marriage in the Arya Samaj Mandir.
  2. Election Card and Aadhar Card of the boy and girl.
  3. Separate affidavits from bride and groom stating the date of birth, marital status at the time of marriage and nationality. (As per the Performa of Affidavit) (Affidavits will be prepared by us)
  4. Ten each passport size photographs of both the parties.
  5. Affirmation in the affidavit that the parties are not related to each other within the prohibited degree of relationship. Meaning thereby they are not blood-related.
  6. Copy of wedding card or temple certificate along with marriage photograph.
  7. The copy of divorce decree/order in case of a divorcee and death certificate of spouse in case of widow/widower.
  8. In case one of the party is a foreigner, a copy of no objection from the concerned embassy regarding his/her marital status.

Note: Delhi government works on Monday, Wednesday and Friday only.
